Business Rules Software - Do I Really Need It?

Looking around at all of the decisions that are needed on a daily basis for businesses it is easy to see why many people start looking for ways to make the process easier. Using software is the latest option that is available that is much cheaper than employees, and ultimately applies the rules fairly while people tend to be flawed and sometimes make exceptions. While the ability to override the business rules software exists, it is also possible to ensure that the rules are followed continuously.

This overall concept is something that seems strange to some owners at first, yet stop and think about it carefully. Do you want your sales staff being able to offer discounts to potential clients in order to reel them in? If you answered yes, who would have the authority to authorize this? How much of a discount are they expected to offer? 5%? 10? What about 50%? Many employees are not always well aware of the rules and it often makes for a very sticky situation when the majority of the information that someone needs is not readily available for them to access.

For example, if a member of your sales staff is talking to a prospective client about a discount and they cannot contact you for approval. A potential sale has been lost, and you have the hassle of an employee trying to track you down, rather than talking to clients and prospects. Does not seem like a very efficient use of time does it? Most owners agree that there is a better way to handle things, and business rules software is one of those ways.

By creating rules in the software, the business can follow them, for example you can set maximum discount levels that are available. You can even restrict it based upon the rank of the employee, or by username itself. Additional options are the ability to limit customer purchases to only a specific quantity of products if you desired. There are so many uses that are amazing that would not be possible without business rules software. By removing the need to train all of your employees for day and days you can ensure that everyone is well aware of the rules and follows them.

If someone decided to override the rules, you would be able to track who it was, what they did and even when so you could discuss it with them in the event it was necessary. This is the type of software that can help super busy owners finally be able to take a day away from the office to relax knowing that everyone is still aware of their job and the guidelines that pertain to sales. No more confused employees, no more confused customers with a clear set of rules in place there are no misunderstandings and everyone is so much happier and your sales can continue to improve from the better customer service you are able to offer.
